“I spent all of my money on the latest Pyramid scheme.”
Translation: “I am out of cash; I don’t have any money left to pay my bills let alone go on a mission trip.”
Joshua 24:15 says, “Choose this day whom you will serve.”
Basically every day when we wake up we are faced with a choice. We can either choose to run after worldly things (including wealth, fame, and material goods), or we can choose to serve the Lord. We can store up our treasures here on earth, or in heaven.
If we’re trying to do things our own way, we may try to come up with money ourselves in order to do something big for God instead of just trusting in God to provide it. If that’s the case, then we’ll keep going around the same dumb mountain until we finally decide it’s time to let go and trust God to provide what we need.
Once we finally surrender to Him and begin to put Him first in our lives, the Bible says that our needs will be met. So, don’t worry about what you will eat, drink or wear, because God already knows your needs – and He promises that if we seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness, He will take care of the rest. (Luke 12:31)
If we’re truly contemplating going on a mission trip, then there is some work involved. And that work may require that we do some fundraising at some point. If we do our part, God promises to do His part. Therefore, since God promises to provide everything we need in order to fulfill His Word, then there’s really no need to worry about excuse #6.
